I woke up after a great nights sleep , staying in a mates house is so much better than staying in a Hotel. Tomas baked some very tasty Muesli for breakfast, then me, Tomas and Tippy the dog drove down to Sedona from Flagstaff .
We parked up in the chimney rock car park off Sanborn drive. We then rode north off road from the car park on singletrack. |

We rode along the singletrack which roughly parallels Dry Creek Road, when the trail ended Tomas put Tippy on a leash so we could ride along the road |
| We turned off the road and headed down some more singletrack. |

The singletrack crossed The dirt road FS 152 which goes to Vultee arch, and onto the Lost Watch trail. |

Tomas's dog Tippy was pretty amazing out the trail keeping up with us , apart from when we went down a hill fast. The trail has lots of good bits I liked the sections were you rode up the narrow stream beds on slick rock. |

The trail arrived at a dry slick rock water fall, and Tippy got to play in a stagnant puddle. |

| From the slickrock water fall we continued riding along the trail |

The trail climbed up a ways, before we dropped back down and came to a wide open dry creek bed. We rode up the creek bed to some pools and tippy got to have some fun in them. |

| We then rode up Dry creek further on what looked like a promising track, but it faded out so we headed east over to FS 152 Dry Creek Road, and road back south. |

We cut back west onto another one of the singletrack trails in the Lost Watch area from the road and then headed back up north to the Lost Canyon Trail head. |
We rode up the long canyon trail until we came to the turning for Dead mans pass, and then scooted down this trail , only stopping to let Tippy catch us up. |
We stopped near the Boynton canyon trail head so Tippy could have a rest and some water. Then we rode up the Boynton pass road to the turning for the Cockscomb trail. Tippy almost went on strike as we headed p this long gradual climb, she was getting quite tierd at this point in the ride. |
The cockscomb trail headed down old double track and was quite fast in places, when we came to the first junction as Tippy wastired Tomas suggested that we split up and he would take a more direct route back to the truck with Tippy. |
| Tomas traced out a rough map on the ground - for where we would meet. I then headed off on the cockscombe loop, which was old double track reverting to singletrack. The route I took had some quite wide open road like sections, which then narrowed right down to fun singletrack in places. |

I headed off down Powerline then down Cockscomb trail, Rupp Trail but managed to miss meeting tomas. While going round in circles looking for Tomas I saw a piece of a sidi replaceable shoe on the ground, I thought great a spare for me, But then I looked at my shoes and found that I had lost 2 parts of my shoes and this was one of them. Damn Sedona Vortex's at work again undoing the screws on my shoes, the last time it was my crank bolts.
After tighten the screws on my remaining bits of soles I headed up the 2 fence trail and back to the truck. Tomas wasn't there so I headed back to where I thought i was meeting him, and found a note saying go up the Girdner Trail, I did this and finally met up with Tomas and Tippy by the side of the road. |

After riding south down dry creek road, we got back on the trail we had ridden up at the start of the , but took a left turn on the way down on the chimney rock trail, which we rode back down to the pickup truck on. |
Once we has packed up we headed back towards Flagstaff, stopping off at a garage for some cold drinks. On the way back up along Oak Creek we stopped and went down to the river where Tippy had a swim to get the stinky rock pool water off her. We also filled our water bottles from a spring by the side of the road near mile marker 387 on the left hand side of the road as you head towards flagstaff. The water tasted great. |
I'd had another great day of riding with good company, Tippy was an excellent trail hound I was amazed at how well she kept up with us on the trail being a fairly small dog.
In the evening we rode Tomas's town bikes into Flagstaff and had some burgers at Diablo Burgers where the meat is all free range local organic - the burger's were good.
Then we headed back to Tomas's house where we started to repair my shoe using an old Motorbike tyre. |
