We drove into Fruita and stopped off at Over the edge bikes, were the staff were very friendly and gave us good advice on the local trails. We also bought a trail guide to the local trails. We then drove up to the bookcliffs area off 18 road |
We parked up and then rode up Prime Cut , Prime cut is a really nice single track which winds through the juniper trees gradually gaining altitude to reach the other trails.
The first trail we did at the top was Chutes and Ladders which was great with a lot of short but steep ups and downs.
We then rode back up Prime Cut and rode down Joe's ridge, which funnily enough was a track which followed a ridge , which plenty of ups and downs. |
We finally rode back up Prime cut and rode down
Kesler
which was a very fast trail with lots of little ups and downs with tight turns to keep things interesting.
The singletrack was sublime in the 18 road area, and the trails were great fun to ride.
We rode around 17 miles, before we decided to head over to the Kokopelli trail area to try some of the trails over there . |
We took the Loma exit off the I70 and drove along frontage road, and parked at the Kokopelli's trail head parking lot.
We then rode the Rustlers Loop, a fun easy 3.9 mile loop |
Next we rode along Mary's Loop a double track to Horse Thief Bench, we did a hike a bike down the cliff to the Horse Thief Bench Loop trail. |
The Horse Thief bench loop has spectacular views of the Colorado river, and the trail has plenty of fast rolling singletrack, coupled with some nice technical sections. |
Once we had finished Horse Thief, we joined back onto Mary's Loop, which turned into nice narrow singletrack following along the river, before it turned north, and we the rode back along frontage road to the SUV.
| In the evening we had a large dinner at the Outback restaurant in grand Junction. |
