| We decided to ride the Porcupine rim trail, but without the pain of the long ride from town to the start of the trail. So we booked a 10am shuttle with the Coyote shuttle service. We parked in the City market car park and then waited for the shuttle at Moab Cyclery We found out while we were waiting that there were two shuttles going one doing the normal route, and the other doing the Longer Upper Porcupine rim Trail. So we paid $15 each and caught the shuttle for the longer route, which we had not done before |
The shuttle went up the La Sal Mt loop road to the start of the ride, and took quite a while with everyone packed into the van like sardines.
At the drop off point we felt quite undressed compared to most of the other riders who were kitted out full body armour. |
The route headed off down an old jeep road, before heading off on unmarked singletrack which followed the edge of a cliff. The singletrack was great, and we only encountered one un-rideable section for us a very steep chute section which dropped down the side of a cliff. |
The singletrack was great, a nice change to the normal riding in Moab which tends to be either riding on open slick rock, or double track. |
After around 6 miles we reconnected to the normal Porcupine rim trail. |
The trail from this point was mostly down hill, on old jeep tracks. |
Eventually the trail started to narrow as we dropped down towards the Green river. |
This last section of the trail is great, as you ride along with the cliff edge next to, and gets quite technical in places. |
Eventually we hit the road and rode back along it into town, in total the ride was 26 miles long.
We had some cold drinks at Hogi Yogi and then headed pack to the apartment.
In the evening went to our favorite Moab restaurant again the Moab Brewery. |
