We had breakfast a the Paradise Cafe which was good. We then drove down to Gunnison along the 135, and then went west along the 50. |
At Montrose we headed off the tarmac road onto cr 90. A graded dirt road. It was an interesting route, with spectacular views as we drove along. |
At one point the road became very muddy and churned up by cows, and the driving was quite interesting at times ( We were glad we had a 4x4).
We passed through Ute which only had 1 occupied house, and a load of abandoned huts, a few miles later the road improved , we continued west on the 90 on a proper road once we reached the power station at Nucla. We drove along the 90 a dead straight road, which the climbed to the Utah border and the La Sal mountains, and the junction of the 191. |
Once we started to descend from the La Sals the temperature outside started to get higher until it at a comfortable 75f. Just what we needed to defrost after cold Colorado. |
We arrived at Moab and went to the apartment we had booked a great 3 bedroom place, with its own double garage, 2 bathrooms etc. I then headed off to the slickrock trail and rode the practice loop, while Clare had a swim in the pool.
We had dinner at the Moab Brewery which was excellent. |
