| Early in the morning I had another treatment session at the Chiropractor, we then went back to vail and packed up and checked out. We had breakfast at Blu's , and had a walk around the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens to loosen my back up before we started to drive to Crested Butte. |
We drove west long the I70 and then south down HW 24, then through Leadville and down to Buena Vista |
We stopped at Buena Vista and had lunch as Punky's Dinner , a nice retro place, we had chili fry's and Malts |
From Buena Vista we headed west along CR306, driving towards Cottonwood Pass. The CR roads were all made of graded dirt - but were in good shape so we made good progress. We stopped at the top of Cottonwood pass elevation 12,126ft , and went for a short hike. |
The road was fairly wagglerly, with amazing views |
We stopped at Taylor Lake briefly to stretch our legs, before making the final drive for Crested Butte. The drive was about 150 miles, but going over the pass was more direct than using the main roads. |
| We drove along Jacks Cut off and finally arrived in Crested Butte. We checked into the Sheraton at Mt Crested Butte and got a King size suite for $8 a night. The Hotel had a secure room for bike storage (Hotel has since changed hands and you are not allowed to have bikes in the Hotel). The room was very nice with good views but there was a load humming noise from a vent in the Bathroom. |
