Zen Trail / Trail Ride
I woke to yet another sunny day, decided to go and ride the Zen Trail before meeting up with Rick to ride the Barrel Roll Trail. After parking at the bottom of a sand stone canyon I rode up double track to get the Zen Trail singletrack. As you can see in the video the Zen trail is very technical, a number of times at the start finding the trail was tricky. |

Zen Trail Singletrack on way up (5MB) |

Zen trail big rocks (21 MB) |
The singletrack Zen trail climbed up and navigated through some big rocks. The temperature was just about perfect today. |
There was a flattish section of the trail as it rolled along the ridge , before heading up into soma very large rocks. |
I stopped amongst the bike rocks and hiked up a bit and eat some food, it was a very quiet peaceful spot. |
Before the trail started to finally head back down, there were views the Stucki springs and Bear claw Poppy trails below. |
The descent down was good fun nothing technical just rolling singletrack, at the bottom I headed back up slightly to ride back on Singletrack. |
I arrived back at the SUV and packed up my stuff, I then headed over to cafe Rio to meet rick. The Zen trail had been quite a challenge at times but yet again its a trail I'd do again if I have time when I come this way again.
Barrel Roll Trail
Are we rode along the trail the wind started to pick up and we could see rain showers off to the North, I really enjoyed the smooth singletrack as it cruised around the desert. |
After finishing the ride on fast smooth singletrack we arrived back at the cars, I would have done the loop again as it had been so much fun, but Rick suggested we quickly headed over to the Turtle Wall ride before it started to rain. Unfortunately my GPS had switched itself off on this ride so no map or profile is available. If you got to Utah Mountain biking they have trail descriptions and maps there. |

Turtle Wall Trail
The turtle wall trail headed up double track along side a wall of sandstone, it was getting quite windy as we rode up the trail. |
When we reached the top of the trail it started to rain and was extremely windy off in the distance we could see lightning, so we headed back down via a different route.

Heading down Turtle wall singletrack |
Riding back in the rain, was great fun and the ground turned a different darker red color, but did not get wet enough to turn to mud. There was a really nice damp earthy smell to the air , a complete contrast to the normal dry desert air. |

We then went to China Palace on Bluff Street and had a very good Chinese meal, before swapping details and heading our separate ways. |
I'd really enjoyed today's riding in particular the two rides with Rick who had been great company . And the trails themselves although not technical at all had been great fun, just to be able to ride fast on singletrack.
