Woke up to a sunny day, had a good breakfast at the Motel and then drove over to Breckenridge intending to ride the Wheelers & Miner Creek Trails, but when I got to Breckenridge there was a very cold strong wind blowing, so I revised my plans as I didn't fancy doing a ride above the tree line in a strong wind. |
Instead I decided to the the Middle & North Fork trail ride instead, as I'd enjoyed the section of the Colorado trail I'd ridden the day before and was up for more. The trail started at the Gold Hill trail head and then headed up Tiger road, past an old dredger. |
The road was tarmac for 3.4 miles before it turned to a dirt road and climbed gradually most of the time, from time to time large trucks thundered past leaving thick clouds of dust, eventually the road started to narrow and turn to double track. |

I managed to ride past the turning for the Colorado trail at the 9 mile mark, and continued riding a way before realizing I'd missed it as there was not a big sign. |
The trail climbed fairly continuously upwards, with the odd dip down. It was quite a workout. |
Eventually I got to a high point and the trail started to shoot back downwards. |

The final descent was very fast as the trail headed down towards a motor home park. |

Asides from having to ride on road for the first 8 miles this was an excellent route, in total I rode about 26 miles. I then got changed and then drove to the I&) and headed west to Grand Junction. |

On the drive back to Grand Junction, I finished off the last of my Cosmos Caramel corn which we'd bought back in Oregon at Blue river. We'd never seen it before in other states and it was very tasty. I stopped at Vail to see if I could get any bargains from the bike shops there but they were all closed, so instead I bought a couple of stone bears from the rock shop there. |
| After driving about 175 miles I arrived at Grand junction, and headed straight to Tequilas Mexican restaurant where I had another good meal, before heading over to the La Quinta Inn to check in. |
