Woke up early (mainly due to the noise of cars and dumpster's in the road outside the Motel.) And found that it was looking quite gray outside, but it was not raining. Had a very good breakfast in the main building. After breakfast the clouds had started to clear, and it was looking like a good day. Today I had decided to do the keystone Gulch / Soda Creek trail, the route I had got our a biker from the MTBR forums. |
I parked at the Keystone Gulch car park, and started to ride up the dirt road which followed keystone Creek. |
The trail eventually climbed steeply up to meet the Colorado trail. The Colorado trail it self was pretty good single track. |
After about 10.4 miles I turned off the Colorado trail and headed down the singletrack towards Keystone Ranch Rd. This section of trail was excellent narrow fast singletrack, with some techy sections. |
From Keystone Ranch Road I headed over the dam and then into the area known as Blair Witch, where the singletrack twisted around loads of tightly packed small tress. |
The trail joined back onto the Colorado trail for a little way before turning off down into a meadow, on some great singletrack, unfortunately around this point my GPS ran out of power. So the route map and profile are not complete for this ride. |

The singletrack through the meadows was great, but then I lost my way , but rode some great twisty singletrack through some woods before being dumped out on some streets. After riding up a very steep track, I found the aqueduct trail and rode this back towards the start of the trail. |

I rode back along the aqueduct trail, and then the trail headed back up keystone gulch, where I crossed the gulch and headed back down to the SUV. I decided that I liked the riding so much here that I would stay another night, to ride another trail the following day. |
I drove back to Frisco, and checked back in at the Frisco lodge, then bought a guide book from Wilderness Sports across the street. and then went out and got something to eat before hitting the sack. |
