Today I had arranged to do a ride on the south downs with a mate who lives up at Guildford, who had never ridden on the south downs.
He wanted to do a route with some big climbs as training for an event he was doing the following week.
We've been having a very wet summer this year, but today was a perfect summers day. Not a cloud in the sky, a gentle breeze and just for a change hardly any mud, apart from under trees.
We started at about 9.45 am and finished at 16:00 pm, and rode 38 miles.
The ride definitely had some big climbs - the most demanding one was the climb up to Ditchling beacon
