As the weather forecast was saying they was less chance of rain the further east you went from Arraba we decided to drive over to Misurina. We drove to Rif. Auronzo which took about 1.5hrs and then hiked over to VF Della Scallette.
For some reason Clare has a phobia with ladders, and as this VF has a section with ladders which take you up a chimney, so Clare decided to walk round the bottom and we took pictures of each other from our respective vantage points.
At the top I admired the view until I started to hear thunder claps, so I hastened to get back down off the VF.
The route down was tricky in places than the route up as not all of it was protected, and in places the route was not clearly marked.
We then hiked back to the Rif 3 Clime, and had a hot drink before hiking over to the VF Sentiero De Luca
This route is different in that you ascend through old tunnels for part of the route with view of the Tre Cime, it also has some great exposure to big drops.
I did the optional ascent to the summit and took in the superb views. Although Clare did not as she was worried about the odd claps of thunder we could hear from time to time.
After the climb to the summit there was a fairly steep unprotected scramble to get down to the next section of the VF
The last section was quite easy and had had loads of safety ropes strung up by the local Rif
On the hike back to the car we spotted Marmots near the trail, we then got back to the car and drove back to Arraba getting back there at 7:30pm.
