| I woke up to another clear sunny day, and decided to go and ride the trail comfortably numb. From Glaciers reach I cycled along the cycle path and the road to the forest road which went to the trail head. The turn off did not have a sign, but I had GPS co-ordinates for where the trail head was, so followed my GPS to the trail head. |
I took some pictures at the trail head and started off along the trail. The trail made you work almost all the time, there were smooth sections in places but mostly there were either roots or rocks to ride over. And it the trail undulated up and down. |

In a few places the trail broke out of the trails and went over exposed granite outcrops

There was quite a few bridges and elevated sections of trail and even I could ride most of them

Sitting here writing this months after I rode the trail its very easy to forget just how much effort it took to ride this trail
Video (7 MB) |

Some of the woodwork went over cool pools of water |

Even though most of the climbs weren't very steep you had to put a lot of effort into getting up the as they were not smooth
Video (8 MB) |

There were some nice long sections of planking, I was lucky it was dry as the trail would have been much harder in the wet.

The trail crossed a stream via a couple of wooden bridges
Video (3 MB) |

After a few more bridges the trail started to climb fairly steeply on a trail with loose small rocks
Video ( 6 MB) |

After the climb the trail leveled out and followed an old railway line bed, this was one of the few times the trail opened up so you could see views of the surrounding mountains.

The trail descended quite steeply down towards the junction with Young Lust at about the 6.5 km point.

Some of the Shore on the way down was too scary for me to attempt on my own, as I wasn't sure enough of my riding ability on the shore which I dont normally ride. And I didn't fancy broken bones riding on my own. |

There were a few smooth section's of trail on comfortably number, here's some heading down to Wedge Creek

At this point in the ride I caught up with a couple from England who were also riding comfortably numb. Shortly after this I had my worst crash of the holiday as I went over the bars while riding in front of the bloke. This always happens when riding with other people when I ride faster than normal 8-) |

The trail was pretty unrelenting in its roots and rocks and climbing
Video (7 MB) |

Climbing up to the half way point - lots of huffing and puffing as I climbed up this part of the trail
Video (8 MB) |
I stopped and ate some food at the half way point and took a few pictures. From this point on the trail was even tougher as it twisted about through the forest and up and down over lumps of granite. |
| Nearing the end of the trail I got my first view of Whistler from the trail. |

Riding along another exposed section of granite, I met a rider here who had ridden up from the Lost Lake trails.

I was getting pretty tired by this point in the ride and managed to fall off my bike
Video (5 MB) |

Finally the trail started descend only , quite a few sections were very steep and rocky

At the end of the trail I connected onto some of the lost lake trails and took Packard Goose -> I'm not satisfied -> why Johnny cant read and then back along the lost lake loop to the Condo. The Lost lake trails were great fun really nice fast easy singletrack compared to comfortably numb. |

Riding back along Lost Lake loop.
| Scrapes from over the bar tumble, luckily for me I'd taken to wearing leg armour on the Whistler trails. |
Comfortably numb was a demanding ride, I was glad I'd done it But its not a ride I'd go back and do again. As the rewards for the ride did not match the effort put into doing the ride. The Lost Lake trails on the other hand were superb and I'd definitely ride them again. Back at the condo I cooked myself some dinner and watched films on the Plasma TV. |
