We woke up after a good night sleep and had a great gourmet breakfast cooked by the Willow Beach B&B owner, a blueberry and strawberry fruit cup, and then a home made muffin with ham and egg with hollandaise sauce. |
We drove over to the trail head of the McDougall rim trail, getting there was tricky as the road to the trail head had been rerouted, and the sat nav system didn't know where the new road was, after coming across several dead ends we got to the trail head. The trail head was a mess rubbish was strewn everywhere. We parked the car and headed off up Bartley road. |
The ride up to the singletrack was quit a slog up hill, no views apart from plenty of trees and there was lots of litter beer bottles, paper etc strewn alongside the trail, the climb went on for about 13km. |
The trail got better towards the top as the road turned to double track, and was more interesting to ride up. |
We were lucky with the weather although we could see rain coming down around us, it held off on our ride. In a couple of places the trail went across open clearings . |
Where the fallen trees weren't stopping the trails flow , there were some good fun sections of downhill. |
There were a few places where there were great views on the lower trail. |
The trail was much faster lower down, and was quite dry and dusty the lower down we got. |
The lower sections of trail were quite lock and dusty , and you could really pick up some speed heading down the trail. |
It was quite warm by the time we got back to the car, we packed up the bikes and headed back to Kelowna. |
| The ride had been ok, but I wouldn't go back to do it again, the double track at the start was too long, and then when you got on the singletrack there were too many trees down, and then when there weren't trees down the trail was pretty torn up by ATV drivers. With hind sight I wish we had gone and ridden Smith Creek or at Rose Valley. |
On the way back we saw a black bear in a meadow off to the side of the road. |
We got back to the B&B and went for a Kayak on Okangan lake, above is a picture of the B&B from the lake. |
We then used the Hot Tub, and I then washed the bikes and packed up Clare's bike in her Bike Bag. We then headed into Kelowna and had a great mexican meal at Hector's Casa then we drove to the waterfront in Kelowna and I had another great ice cream from Moo-Lic's |
