Leaving my wife to have a lie in, I got up early at 6.30 in the morning and drove over to the Stagecoach road trail head on russell road, and headed down the stagecoach road (a double track old dirt road) to the old forest road bridge.
I managed to misread the directions I had and set off along the Confluence trail, a great trail which went along side of the river bank. It was only when I reached the Mammoth Bar OHV area that I realized i'd gone wrong so I turned around and headed back the way i'd come which was great as it was mainly downhill and as I now knew the route I was able to fly back down it.
I then crossed the Old Foresthill road and got onto the Lake Clementine Trail a nice trail which went along side the north fork america river, until I reached the Lake Clementine road which climbed fairly steeply up until I reached the turn for the Culvert Trail. The Culvert trail started off as a double track and gradually got narrower with a fun section of downhill, which eventually joined up with the trail i'd already ridden - the confluence trail, I went back along this trail then rode back up the Stage Coach road, and then back to the Hotel.
| We then had breakfast and headed off to Lake Tahoe at about 11:00am, we headed up the 80 , and then took the 89 south from Truckee to the west side of Lake Tahoe. As the guide books said this was a more scenic way to go, there were big jams of traffic heading away from Tahoe, but not much going there. |

Sculpture at Tahoe City |
We stopped in Tahoe city and had a walk around the lake side, it was a beautiful sunny day, although it was very busy as it was Labor Day. We then drove down the west side of the Lake to south Lake Tahoe. Where we checked into the Best Western Timber Cove Lodge Marina Resort. We had a good room with a view of the lake, but there was no internet access in the room 8-(. But you could use their business center to access the Internet. We then decided to try and get a ride in before it got dark. |

Pier at Tahoe City |

Kingsbury Grade |
We decided to do a ride some of the Kingsbury Grade to Bench overlook trail. The trail was great a good mix of smooth singletrack trail along with technical sections. Unfortunately the trail was too technical in places for my wife to ride so we made fairly slow progress , and had to turn around on the trail missing the end before it got dark. If I ever go back to Tahoe on my own I'll be sure to do this trail again in its entirety. |

We got back to the SUV and packed up the bikes and then went back up the trail, and went to a vista point and took in the great views of the lake, then we drove back to south lake Tahoe and got some great mexican food at a Baja Fresh fast food place. |
