Had breakfast at Hotel and then headed over to Steve's house and picked him up
Then we drove over to Alma School Drive which we drove to end of and parked up. It was much warmer than when i last in Phoenix in the previous week with the temperature up to about 70
We met one of Steve's friends Scott and then we cycled off up route 24 a wide double track path.

Around Cone mountain |
We then did a pretty much free form ride all over the Granite Mountain Multi use area, first we headed off west on a great roller coasting singletrack trail, then swung round Cone mountain |
|

Scott & Slant mountain |
Some where along the way Steve showed me the 'Temple' a place where indians in ancient times used to live, there were grinding holes in the granite where corn etc was ground in the past.
We then road past slant mountain and around saddle mountain, and then up and around Cholla mountain. Unfortunately at this point we had to turn back as my riding partners all had x-mas stuff they had to do with their families. |

Steve
|
The trails were great - a mixture of hard packed sand and loose decomposed granite, in places you were almost surfing through the loose granite, there were loads of bermed corners and sets of up and down humps, and some very steep ups and down - loads of fun to ride. Hard to say exactly where we went as there were oodles of trails going everywhere, we did come across a few groups of motor bike riders but they were all friendly and courteous. As I remembered from the last time I visited Phoenix the best riding I experienced was in this area 8-) |

Steep but rideable Hill |
I dropped Steve off at his house and then as there was still plenty of time left headed off to where I rode on DAY 2 and rode up and down the other side of Sunrise trail again. By the end of the day I had ridden 27 miles.
In the evening I headed over to Steve's house as he had kindly invited me over for a dinner party he and his neighbors were having.
I had a great time with them, first of all we went one of Steve's neighbors and had appetizers and cocktails , then we went to Steve's house for the main course, and finally we went to another neighbors house for desserts. Every one was very friendly and it was really great to experience Arizonian hospitality.
I then headed back to my Hotel and hit the sack
